Energy Resilience in the Golden State
The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) is one of California's most important tools for grid stability. It provides rebates for installing energy storage systems (batteries), helping homeowners maintain power during outages and reduce peak-time energy costs.
Equity & Resiliency Focus
While a standard rebate is available to all, SGIP offers massive "Equity Resiliency" rebates for:
- Low-income households.
- Residents in high-fire-threat districts (HFTD).
- Medically vulnerable customers who rely on electricity for life-sustaining equipment.
In these cases, the rebate can often cover the entire cost of a battery installation like a Tesla Powerwall.
Note: This rebate stacks with any remaining federal tax credits (if installed before Dec 31, 2025).
